Itinerary

Your adventure begins as you arrive in Delhi, where you will be greeted at the airport and transferred to your hotel. After settling in, the day is at your leisure, allowing you to relax and prepare for the exciting journey ahead. Delhi, with its blend of vibrant history and modern conveniences, offers a comfortable starting point for your wildlife and birdwatching expedition. An early morning transfer to the airport will have you on a flight to Jaipur, departing at 06:25 hrs. Upon arrival in Jaipur, you will embark on a scenic drive to Pushkar, a serene town nestled among hills, which takes about three hours. After checking in to your hotel in Pushkar, your afternoon will be dedicated to birdwatching in the surrounding area. The monsoon season brings life to the landscape, and this initial birding experience will give you the chance to spot species like the Indian Pitta, White-bellied Minivet, and others that thrive in these green terrains. After an enriching afternoon, you will return to your hotel for the night.

The entire day will be devoted to exploring the rich biodiversity of the Pushkar forest area. With its tropical dry deciduous forests, this region is home to a variety of elusive bird species and wildlife. You’ll have the opportunity to observe and photograph species like Marshall’s Iora, the White-naped Tit, and perhaps catch a glimpse of the Indian Leopard or Striped Hyena. The forest, drenched in monsoon rains, becomes an oasis of greenery and vibrant flowers, creating an idyllic backdrop for your birdwatching experience. At the end of a long day, you will return to your hotel in Pushkar, filled with memories of the wildlife you’ve encountered.

 

After breakfast, you will leave Pushkar and drive to the Sonkhaliya grasslands, a birdwatcher’s paradise known for its rare sightings. Upon arrival, you will spend the day immersed in birding, focusing on spotting the Lesser Florican, a monsoon specialty, as well as other species like the Rock Bush Quail, Painted Francolin, Rain Quail, and Indian Nightjar. The vast grasslands offer ample opportunities to observe these birds in their natural habitat. As the day winds down, you will be transferred to your nearby hotel for the night.

 

Today, you will continue your exploration of the Sonkhaliya grasslands. With its unique ecosystem, this region is home to some of India’s most remarkable bird species. The Lesser Florican, a critically endangered bird, is one of the highlights of this area, and you’ll also encounter nightjars like the Indian and Savanna Nightjar. Your day will be spent amidst the beautiful landscapes, where the monsoon rains bring new life to the surroundings. After another full day of birdwatching, you will return to your hotel in the evening, reflecting on the diversity of birdlife you have witnessed.

Another full day will be spent in the Sonkhaliya grasslands, allowing you more time to track and observe the diverse bird species that inhabit this unique ecosystem. You’ll continue your search for the critically endangered Lesser Florican, as well as other species like the Indian Nightjar and Painted Francolin. The extended time in Sonkhaliya ensures that you have ample opportunities to photograph and enjoy the natural beauty of this birdwatcher’s haven. After a day immersed in nature, you’ll return to your hotel for the night.

Start the day with a final morning birding session in the Pushkar area, making the most of the early hours when birds are most active. Afterward, you’ll drive to Ajmer for your afternoon train to Delhi. The train departs at 15:55 hrs, offering a relaxing journey through the changing landscapes of Rajasthan. You’ll arrive in Delhi at around 22:30 hrs, where you’ll be transferred to your hotel for the night, concluding the day’s travel and birding experience.

On your final day, after a memorable birding adventure, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight home. With beautiful memories and a collection of rare bird sightings, you’ll depart India, bringing an end to your incredible monsoon wildlife and birdwatching tour.
